Amelanchier alnifolia Smokey (Saskatoon Berry) Fruit Bush / Small Tree 3L Pot The Amelanchier alnifolia Smokey is a highly productive Saskatoon berry variety prized for its heavy crops of large, juicy fruits and beautiful seasonal interest. Grown commercially in Canada and regarded as one of the best varieties for fruit, this self-fertile bush also delivers spring flowers and stunning autumn colour. Key Features Produces large, juicy Saskatoon berries Self-fertile and heavy cropping Clusters of white spring flowers Excellent autumn colour in orange and crimson tones Low-maintenance and easy to grow Ideal for edible and ornamental gardens Product Description Amelanchier Smokey is a versatile fruiting shrub or small tree with a naturally suckering habit and an attractive, upright form. In April, it becomes covered in clusters of snow-white flowers, providing an early burst of colour and interest. By June, the plant produces a heavy crop of deep purplish-red berries with a sweet, pleasant flavour. The fruits can be enjoyed fresh, baked into desserts, or used for jams and preserves. Birds are particularly fond of the berries, so netting is recommended if you wish to protect your harvest. Dark green foliage in summer turns to glowing shades of orange and crimson in autumn, making Smokey a standout feature in the garden throughout the seasons.
